Traditional Dress of Nocte Tribe gives an array of an exotic collection of socio-cultural life that blends many types of cultures and traditions. Shawls, skirts, wraps, lungi are the fashion favourites among the Nocte Tribe. They put on various ornaments which are part of their dresses. Tattooing was common among women folk but in present days is no longer in practice. Nocte Tribes are the easternmost inhabitants of India who inhabit the remotely forested and sensitive frontiers of Patkai Hills, in Tirap District in Arunachal Pradesh.
Traditional Dress for Men of Nocte Tribe
The Nocte dress is very simple. The male dress consists of a long piece of loincloth tied around the waist and worn like a "Tanguti" with the rings of cane belts. Beads and rings of canes are also fastened around the legs and arms. Bamboo slips and armlets made of ivory are worn on all four limbs as well.
Traditional Dress for Women of Nocte Tribe
The female wears skirts hanging from their waist to the knees, covering the knees and a blouse. Wrapper or shawl covers the upper portion of the body during winter.
