Jalpesh TempleChalsa has magnificent view of small hillocks, along which the river Kurti flows and the vast expanse of the tea gardens. In the flood plains of river Torsha, Jaldapara Wild life sanctuary is the home of Great Indian One-horned rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal Tiger. The Jalpesh Temple, some 8 km away from Jalpaiguri is the only religious place attracting tourists. The presiding deity of Shiva in the temple is invested with immense historical importance. The Cooch King Prananarayana had constructed this temple in the year 1655. The tourism industry of Jalpaiguri is one of the principal sources of income of Jalpaiguri. Completely an agriculture based economy, the district of Jalpaiguri owes its popularity as an economically developed district mainly due to the thriving prosperity of tourism industry in Jalpaiguri.
