Nearby popular attraction of Tiruvottiyur Beach is the Thyagaraja Temple which is closely associated with the saint poet Sundarar and Pattinathar. Thyagaraja Temple is one of the Paadal Petra Sthalangal and amongst the great Shiva Temples of Tamil Nadu and the Samadhi of Saint Pattinathar.

Thyagaraja Temple was visited by many ancient Indian hermits and poets like Appar, Sundarar, Gnana Sambandhar, Thyagayyar, Vallalar, Valmiki, Kambar00, Adi Shankaracharaya Kamba Ramayanam was composed here at Thyagaraja Swamy Vadivudaiamman Temple, before it was recited at Sri Rangam, Trichy in Chennai. Marina Beach is also near to Tiruvottriyur Beach and is Chennai`s most famous tourist attraction. The beach has a diverse residential population due to the industrial units, trading activity and nearby fishing hamlets.

Visiting Information of Tiruvottiyur Beach
Tiruvottriyur, Chennai is easily accessible by Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses from across the Chennai and has a bus terminus. The number of train services on this road is quite regular. Tiruvottriyur has two rail stations, one at Tiruvottriyur and the other at Wimco Nagar.
