Ramaswami Pillai was a renowned Indian music composer. Pillai was born in Tiruvarur to Kamala Tyagesam Pillai and Vasantammal, a family of Nayinar Adiyar connected with the Tyagesa Temple at Tiruvarur.
Ramaswami Pillai blossomed and grew into a talented music composer and a penta linguist. Throughout his life he was busy with collecting information and gathering knowledge about the various nuances of music and then during his later part of his life, retired to Vaidheeswaran koil where he spent the last days of his life. Ramaswami Pillai has around 52 compositions to his credit including varnas a kritis and his mudra was Vedapuri or Vedapureesa after one of the names of Vaidhisvaran koil.
