Beaches of Puducherry Beaches of Puducherry are located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. This is a 1500 metre stretch beach and is an ideal place for swimming and sunbathing. There is a150-year-old lighthouse, which is the main attraction of the beach. The beach is maintained clean and of late boulders have been erected to prevent sea-erosion. Sri Aurobindo Society`s beach office and the Puducherry Government Tourist Office are on the beach road.

Karaikal Beach of Puduchhery
The Karaikal Beach is perfect for the sunrise-watchers. They can have their magnificent view over the bay, with the pretty Arasalar River reaching out to the sea. Playing of beach volleyball is very popular here.

Promenade Beach of Puducherry
The Promenade Beach extends for about 1.5 km and on the southern part of this exotic beach; there lies a statue of Monsieur Dupleix, a French Governor. A tall statue of Mahatma Gandhi, which measures about 4.25 meters is existent on this beach. As a mark of respect towards the soldiers of the French army who had sacrificed their lives during the event of the Second World War, some war memorials have been constructed here.

Beaches of Puducherry Mahe Beach of Puducherry
Mahe Beach is located near Kannur city and is surrounded by palm trees. Located close to this breathtakingly beautiful beach are some hamlets where the fishermen of this region reside. One can visit this beach from Calicut which is about 75 km from Mahe Beach. The coastline forms the northern flank of Kerala. Sea shells are collected by children and greatly adored. This is an unexplored tourist locale and exudes an unique appeal which is missing in several other beaches of India.

Plage Paradise of Puducherry
Plage Paradiso Beach stretches for a distance of nearly 1.5 km and is dotted with a series of palm trees. This marvellous beach contains two famous historical monuments which include the War Memorial, which was erected to commemorate the bold sacrifice of the soldiers who fought and died in the First World War, and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The War Memorial was constructed by the French. Plage Paradise is amongst the virgin tourist spots of the country.

Auroville Beach of Puducherry
Auroville Beach is located in the region of Auroville along the beach which lies on the border of the Bay of Bengal. This beach is believed to be one of the most renowned beaches in Puducherry which is favoured by local inhabitants as well as tourists. The main town of Puducherry is situated at a distance of nearly 12 km from Auroville Beach. Visitors can indulge in swimming near this beach and it is quite safe for swimmers.

Serenity Beach of Puducherry
Serenity Beach of Puducherry exudes breathtaking beauty and is visited by millions of national as well as foreign tourists throughout the year. One has to drive for nearly ten minutes from the northern part of the city to reach this beautiful beach. Enthusiastic tourists generally relax on this beach, collecting seashells, or strolling on the golden sands of this beach. Water sports like canoeing, kayaking and boating are popular here. Numerous palm trees border the edge of the Serenity Beach, which adds to its natural beauty.

The beach-comber and the sun-worshipper have miles of `nirvana` in Puducherry. The sand is very clear here and looks sparkling. The seagulls visit here often in the beach of Puducherry. The Paradise beach of Puducherry at Chunnambar is 8 kms far from the town, along Cuddalore Main Road. This beach is in the stretch of tropical paradise.
