Keladi Museum, KarnatakaKeladi Museum is an Indian state museum. It is located in the Indian state of Karnataka. More specifically, this museum is situated in Keladi village, which is about 80 kms from Shimoga. Keladi is known to be a historical place as the Keladi Nayaka kingdom was established here in 1499 by Chaudappa Gauda. The Keladi museum and Historical Research Centre was built in the year 1978 by the Keladi Guand Jois. This museum is affiliated to Kuvempu University. The occupants of this museum are of utmost relevance to research scholars and students. This museum is especially delightful to history and culture buffs.

Collection of Keladi Museum
Keladi Museum is known to preserve the historical background and accounts of the Keladi rulers. It is also a storehouse for a variety of objects of great antiquity. The authentic ancient items housed in this museum are manuscripts made of palm leaf, paper and cloth to kadatas or black books, coins, exquisite brass idols and paintings. More specifically, about one thousand paper and palm leaf manuscripts are preserved in this museum. They are written in Kannada, Sanskrit and Telagu. In tegalari script, there are about 400 palm leaf manuscripts. These manuscripts are based on History, Art, Literature, Astrology, Astronomy, Dharmasastra, Veterinary Science, Mathematics and Medicine. Stone sculptures of this museum are also worth mentioning. Some of these sculptures are the Sati Stones, Nisidi Stones, Jaina tirthankaras, Kalabhiarva, Chennakesava, Kalamukhas and Hero Stones. The copper plate inscription dates back to the Vijayanagara and the Kaladi times. The category of art objects includes locks and keys, weights, artistic domestic vessels, arms, combs, betelnut crackers and coins. One thousand such coins of the Hyder Ali, Portuguese, Mysore Wodeyars and Tipu incumbencies are protected in the museum. The Keladi Museum is also provided with a library.
