Tattwabodhini Patrika was the creation of Debendranath Tagore on 16th August, 1843. It was the organ of Tattwabodhini Sabha.

Tattwabodhini Patrika, Bengali MagazineTattwabodhini Patrika was published from Kolkata that had an erudite editorial board comprising of Debendranath Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Akshay Kumar Dutta, Rajnarayan Basu and Rajendra Lal Mitra. Tattwabodhini Patrika changed the character of Indian vernacular journalism. It popularised the positive aspects of the religious scriptures. It criticised messiah worship and focused on the spiritual and ethical aspects of human personality. It propagated harmony. This magazine was a mouthpiece of Tattvabodhini Sabha.

The newspaper dealt with social reform like opposing child marriages and polygamy. It portrayed progressive views about the society. Debendranath wanted to limit the journal to religious matters. However Akshay Kumar Dutta wanted to broaden its scope as he wanted to include scientific essays.

The objectives of this magazine were to communicate Brahmo Knowledge, publish the works of Raja Ram Mohan Roy and those matters that would enhance knowledge and cleanse character. This journal came out at the time when Christian Missionaries were trying to instigate their ideals in Bengal. It was basically published in order to revive the Hindu society and religion and the spirit of Bengal. Akshay Kumar Dutta aroused the sense of patriotism through this magazine.

The articles were selected by a committee that consisted of Rajnarayan Basu, Anandakrishna Basu, Shridhar Nyayaratna, Radhaprasad Roy, Debendranath Tagore and others. It was published till 1932. After Akshay Kumar Dutta it was edited Nabin Chandra Banerjee, Satyendranath Tagore, Ayodhya nath Pakrashi, Hemchandra Vidyaratna, Dwijendranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore and Kshitindranath Tagore.
