Tarla Dalal was a reputed Indian cook book author, chef and Indian food writer whose claim to fame is her extraordinary capability to cook up delectable food dishes and lip smacking desserts. She was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri Award in the year 2007 and `Women of the Year Award` by an organization known as Indian Merchants` Chamber award in 2005. Early Life of Tarla Dalal
Born in the year 1936 in Pune, Maharashtra, Tarla Dalal has penned above 100 books in the field of cooking. She specializes in the sphere of Indian cuisine, especially Gujarati cuisine and her cooking shows like `Cook It Up With Tarla Dalal` and `Tarla Dalal show` have enabled her to impart abundant lessons about cooking to her national and international audiences.
Tarla Dalal`s Rise to Fame
`The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking` was her debut cookbook, and it was published in the year 1974. Besides composing books, this veteran Indian cook also ran a food website and published a bi-monthly magazine referred to as `Cooking & More`. Tarla Dalal conducted cooking classes in the year 1966, from her home, soon after which she began writing her first cookbook. Her books have been translated into numerable languages like Gujarati, Marathi, Hindi, Bengali as well as foreign languages like Dutch and Russian. In the year 2007, Tarla Dalal commenced her cookbook series known as `Total Health Series`.
