Sachdev was inducted to the game by her mother Anju in conjure to harness her restlessness energy into something positive. A liking for the game was soon developed by Tania. Her parents after recognizing her talent, decided to provide her with professional training. Tania Sachdev is a fan of Viswanathan Anand. She got hooked to the game of chess which is mainly the domain of the South Indian players. Sachdev became the Eighth Indian Woman Grandmaster. When Tania was just eight, she won her first international title. Already she has won the World and Asian junior titles by the time.

Tania Sachdev aims to achieve the International Master norm. She exceeded recently in the Asian Women`s Championship with 6.5 points out of 9 rounds. A Delhi literature student and Woman International Master, Tania Sachdev, accomplished her final woman grandmaster norm by scoring fifty percent in the First Saturday of the Grandmaster Tournament. Tania Sachdev after S.Vijayalakshmi, Koneru Humpy, S.Meenakshi, Aarthie Ramaswamy, Nisha Mohota, Swati Ghate and Dronavalli Harika, Tania Sachdev becomes India`s eighth Woman Grand master. She is considered to be the biggest chess talent from north India in women`s chess. Due to her exams colliding with the tournament dates, she dropped playing the National women`s championship.

Tania Sachdev, Indian Chess Player Tania Sachdev drew eight games, at Budapest, lost one game and beat Eesha Karavade for this grand master achievement. In an 11-player men`s grandmaster tournament she has achieved the Woman Grandmaster norm it is quite an accomplishment. She was born on August 20, 1986, sports a rating of 2343. Tania Sachdev was honoured with the Arjuna Award in the year 2009. She was also the 2nd runner-up in 38th National Women`s Premier Chess Championship at Chennai.
