Tandur is a municipal town of the Indian state Telangana known for being a major producer and distributor of blue limestone in India.

It is accredited as the largest municipality as well as the largest town in the district. The place is famed for hosting cement and stone industries. It is also known for its Redgram production, which is also called as Pigeon Pea. The town houses several educational centres. River Kagna flows 4 kilometres away from Tandur and provides drinking water to the town. Tandur forms a part of Tandur assembly constituency and Chevella loksabha constituency. Presently P. Mahender Reddy serves as the MLA of Tandur assembly constituency who hails from Telugudesham party.

Geography of Tandur
Tandur lies at a distance of about 125 kilometres from the city of Hyderabad, which is the capital city of the state of Telangana. The average elevation of the place is 2 kilometres. The connectivity of the town with neighbouring towns like Vikarabad (40 km), Mahabubnagar (80 km), Sangareddy (50 km) and Zaheerabad (60 km) is pretty good. Secunderabad-Wadi section of Mumbai route hosts the nearest major railway station.

Demography of Tandur
As per the Indian census of 2011, Tandur hosts a population of 65115 among which 51 percent are male and 49 percent constitute female. The average literacy rate of the town has been recorded to be 60 percent which is higher than the national average of 59.5 percent. Male literacy of the town comprises 67 percent while the female literacy has been recorded to be 52 percent. The population under 6 years of age constitute 15 percent.

One of the prime attractions of the town of Tandur is the blue and yellow coloured limestone found here. The place serves as one of the major producer and distributor of blue limestone which finds extensive use in wall cladding, flooring and slabs.

Tandur forms a cherished pilgrimage site where people belonging to all religions find refuge. The town hosts a number of Hindu temples, mosques and churches. Some of the prominent Hindu temples of Tandur enlist Amba Bhavani Temple, Ayyappa Temple, Raghavedra Temple, Pochama Temple, Eashwar Temple, Sri Nagareshwar Mandir and many more. Jama Masjid, Afghani Masjid, Madina Masjid, Kareemiya Masjid, Masjid-e-Samad, Masjid-e-Arfaath etc are the common mosques of the town. Tandur also offers religious refuge to the Christians which includes churches like Methodist Central Church and others.
