Tamil Writers, Tamil LiteratureLiterature is a part of the heritage of India. Indian literature exists in varied languages. Various Indians skilled in writing have contributed in creating this part of India"s heritage in the form of stories, novels, prose, essays, etc using varied languages. Tamil writers are no exception in this regard. Some of these Tamil writers and their works are mentioned below.

C. S. Lakshmi
C. S. Lakshmi with a pen name Ambai is recognized as a Tamil feminist writer and independent researcher in women`s studies of India. The language which she uses to write apart from Tamil is English. She is a specialist in writing short story, novel and novella and her writings are focused upon women and feminism. Her first creation named Nandimalai Charalilae was published in 1962. Some of her notable works are A Purple Sea, Nandimalai Charalilae and Andhi Malai.

Indira Parthasarathy
Tamil Writers, Tamil LiteratureIndira Parthasarathy with the pen name of R. Parthasarathy is recognized as a Tamil writer and playwright. He has contributed novels, plays, anthologies of short stories and essays to the repertoire of Indian Literature. Aurangzeb, Nandan Kathai and Ramanujar are the plays for which he is noted. He has the distinction of being the only Tamil writer who has honored by both the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He is also the recipient of Padma Shri.

Thangam Krishnamurthy
Thangam Krishnamurthy is recognized as a feminist Tamil writer, who has contributed in expanding Indian Literature in terms of well researched social short stories like Manam, Meenuvukku gift, Vilakketriyaval, Antha oru poi and Bothi maram. Nanjil Nadan
Nanjil Nadan with the pseudonym of G. Subramaniam is recognized as a Tamil writer. As a writer, he has depicted his versatility in writing novels (like Thalaikeezh Vigithangal and Mamisapadaippu), short stories (like Uppu and Prandh), short story anthologies, essays and poetry (like Manullipambu and Pachai Nayagi). It is important to note that some of his writings are part of the curriculum in several educational institutions.

Vittal Rao K
Vittal Rao K is recognized as a Tamil writer, more specifically, a short story writer, a novelist and an essayist. His works have covered topics like world cinema, fine art, history and literature. In 1967, his first short story appeared in the popular weekly called Ananda Vikatan. Some of his novels are Pokkidam, Nadhimoolam and Meendum Avalukkaaga.
