Tajpur is a gorgeous sea beach, situated in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. It spreads over the shore of Bay of Bengal between Sankarpur and Mandarmoni. The beach has an unmatched beauty with patches of forest scattered throughout. The most alluring feature of the beach is the inverted crescent shape, which is unlike the crescent shape of majority of beaches. The beach is still quite unexplored and its pristine beauty makes it one of the most fascinating tourist destinations.

The major tourist attraction in Tajpur is the beautiful sea beach bordered by Keya flower shrubs and Casuarina Groves. Exploring the estuary, the fishermen of the locality and the surrounding villages is also an interesting activity in Tajpur. About 1400 acres of land in Tajpur is reserved for pisiculture. Fish ponds, also known as Bheris are also scattered throughout the place. Numerous red crabs also dot the beach of Tajpur. The place also serves as the centre for reaching nearby tourist sites such as Mandarmoni, Sankarpur, Bankiput and Talasari.

The prime attraction of Tajpur is its pristine sea beach fringed with a dense forest of tamarisk trees. The beach is infested with infinite number of red crabs which play hide and seek in the sand. Their presence makes the beach look crimson. There are fishermen`s villages in the vicinity, where one can observe the mundane life of fisherman. Just 1 km away is a lagoon with a pleasant surrounding. Tajpur is 170 km from Kolkata.

Reaching the beach at Tajpur takes about 3.5 to 4 hours from Kolkata irrespective of the mode of transport. There are plenty of bus services towards Digha from different part of Kolkata besides The main bus terminus at Esplanade. The tourists are to get down at Balisai a place between Kanthi and Digha. From Balisai, shared motorised rickshaw van carries 6-10 passengers to Tajpur in 10 mins. From Howrah all Digha bound trains except Duranto Express, halt for a minute at Ramnagar station.
