Sweets of Eastern India are amongst the most celebrated cuisines across the globe since the inhabitants of West Bengal and Orissa are referred as people possessing a sweet tooth. Bihar and Jharkhand are the two other Eastern Indian states which produce different types of sweets. West Bengal`s Mishti Doi and Rosogolla are much coveted by a large number of Indians.

West Bengal specializes in the production of multiple types of lip-smacking sweets like `Shondesh`, `Rasmalai`, `Chomchom`, `Pitha`, `Roshogolla`, `Pantua`, `Laddu`, `Mishti Doi`, `Nalengurer Sandesh`, `Darbesh`, `Langcha`, `Shor Bhaja` and several others. Some other sweet dishes which are quite famous in West Bengal involve `firni` or rice pudding, `Chhanar Jilipi`, `Kalo Jam`, `Paesh`, `Bundiya` and `Raghobshai`.

Residents of the state of Orissa enjoy innumerable delectable sweet dishes which range from `Bundia`, `Arisha Pitha`, `Chhena Gaja`, `Attakali`, `Chandrakanti`, `Chhena Malpua` to `Chakuli Pitha`, `Biri Buha`, `Bada Kanti`, `Chhena Poda`, `Kalakand`, `Chhena Jili`, `Khasta Puri`, `Gotai`, ` Manohar`, `Sarapuli`, `Karanji`, `Khaja`, `Kheersagar`, `San Pitha`, `Ladu`, `Tala Pitha`, `Mathapuli`, `Tripuri` and several others.

Sweets in Eastern India constitute significant part of the traditions and customs of these regions. Several festivals and social occasions are also incomplete without the serving of many of these sweets.
