This temple is actually located 75 kms away from Patna in Nalanda district. It is a famed Hindu temple that is of several centuries old and is a popular attraction in Nalanda. The temple is also known as "Surajpur Baragaon". This temple is dedicated to the Sun God and the sun worship is called the "Chhath Puja" that is held here twice every year in "Chaitya" and "Kartik" months of Hindu calendar.

The Sun temple is a famous tourist attraction in Nalanda. It has flourished with exceptional architecture that is simply alluring. With the finest stones, it can draw the attention of anyone in this world. It is believed that one who put his feet into this temple; would never go back with empty hand.

Surya Temple comprises idols of many Hindu gods and goddesses combined with some of the Buddhist deities. The main attraction at this temple is the 5 feet high idol of Goddess Parvati placed here.
