Sur Sangeet went on air on the 25th of September 2003. It is a free-to-air digital Hindi music Channel catering to the Hindi audience across India with programming that takes over the entire range of music, particularly in Hindi. Sur Sangeet televises a variety of Hindi Film Songs, Clippings, Trailors, Private Albums, Pop Music and all spices relevant to Music offering entertainment that caters to wide range of viewers across all age groups. Hindi, the national language is used for interacting with its viewers.
The programmes on Sur Sangeet is a mix of anchor based as well as back to back songs covering music of all moods be it melody, fast tracks, romantic, ghazals, etc., which stands apart for its originality and freshness, appealing to the masses, as most of the masses love Hindi music in our country. The basket of programs so made is in tune with this generation and is anchored by VJs with a be-yourself attitude The programmes on the channel are Sur Mala, Jwala, Sur Antakshri, Sur Darpan , Sur Paigam, Mehfil-e-ghazal, Sur Mantra, etc. Sur Sangeet currently has a penetration of about 7 million households and is well distributed in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and West Bengal through major MSOs and will shortly be available in other parts of India too. Sur Sangeet is one of the few Indian channels, which have shown an eagerness to be a part of the DD Direct plus service.
