She is mainly well-liked for playing the role of "Hansa Parekh" in the serial "Khichdi" and for her venomous avatar of "Dhankor Baa" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali"s "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela". After a great break from the Indian film industry, Supriya Pathak is back into the acting circuit with a bang and bagged quite a few awards for the comic character portrayal of "Hansa". She is the daughter of the famous actress Dina Pathak who is very well known for playing the roles of mother and grandmother in the Bollywood flicks in the era of 1980s and 1990s. Her sister Ratna Pathak is also an actress and is married to the famous Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah.

Early life of Supriya Pathak Kapur
She was born on 7th January in the year1961 and hails from a long line of performers. Supriya Pathak was born to Gujarati theatre artiste, and veteran actor, Dina Pathak, a Kathiawadi Gujarati and a Punjabi father, Baldev Pathak, dressmaker to the stars Rajesh Khanna and Dilip Kumar.Supriya Pathak Kapur, Indian TV Actresses, Indian Television She has one elder sister, Ratna Pathak, also a theatre performer and film actor. She grew up in Parsi Colony in Dadar, Mumbai and attended the J. B. Vachha High school. She has a bachelor"s degree in Fine art, specialising in Bharatanatyam, from the Nalanda Dance Research Centre, University of Mumbai.

Career of Supriya Pathak Kapur
Supriya started her career with the significantly acclaimed 1981 film "Kalyug" which was followed by roles in many more critically acclaimed films such as "Vijeta", "Bazaar", "Masoom" and "Mirch Masala". Pathak"s first venture into acting was in her mother`s direction with the renewal of the play "Maina Gurjari", which by the way Dina Pathak in her prime had acted in. This was followed by a play with Dinesh Thakur titled "Biwiyon Ka Madersa" which was based on a play by French playwright "Moliere" which was staged at the Prithvi Theatre. Jennifer Kendall, the late wife of Shashi Kapoor, spotted her and recommended her to Shyam Benegal for their home production "Kalyug" which was an alteration of the classic Mahabharata. She also had a small role as Mahatma Gandhi`s niece in the multi-award-winning biopic Gandhi and starred in the 1988 French film "The Bengali Night" along with Hugh Grant. In the early 1990s she took a long break from acting in films but appeared in numerous television series.

After an 11 year break from acting, she starred in the 2005 film "Sarkar" along with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. She was highly praised for her depiction of a compliant mother who tries hard to fill up the generation gap with her son in "Wake up Sid". She has acted as a lead in Gujarati film, "Carry on Kesar" which was her first Gujarati film. She has been prolific on the small screen as well and is known for her roles in serials like "Idhar Udhar", "Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka", "Khichdi", "Baa Bahoo Aur Baby" and "Chanchan" among others. Her husband, Pankaj Kapur and she launched their own TV production house, "Grass Company". In 1986, she met her husband Pankaj Kapur, as filming Sagar Sarhadi`s "Agla Mausam", which was never released. After two years of courtship, they tied the knot in 1988, and are now parents to a daughter and a son. Their daughter, Sanah made her debut in the movie, "Shaandaar".
