The Sumtsek is a triple-storied temple located in Alchi in Leh of J&K. It is located to the left of Du-khang, one of the oldest structures in the Alchi Monastery. The temple is famous for its well-preserved woodcarvings and paintings.
Inside the temple, there is a colossal statue of Maitreya (Lord Buddha) and He is flanked by decorated Bodhisattvas (a person dedicated to achieving complete Buddhahood). Secondary deities can also be found. The mural of six-armed green goddess Pragyaparamita, the `Perfection of Wisdom`, is singularly beautiful. The life of Buddha is painted in an image of Bodhisattva Maitreya.
