Suj Tilla West is a mountain peak situated in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. It lies in the Kumaun Himalaya range and has an elevation of 6,373 m.

Suj Tilla West Peak, Pithoragarh District, UttarakhandSuj Tilla West Peak is a mountain peak in the Himalaya. Earlier, the peak used to be known as `Suitilla`. The peak is situated in the Kumaon Himalaya range. To the southern region of the peak lies the Ralam Dhura pass, which unites Darma valley to Ralam valley. The most important features of Suj Tilla West Peak are the sharp ridges and steep ice-flutings, which are popularly known as `Peak of Needles`.

Location of Suj Tilla West Peak
It is located in the district of Pithoragarh, the easternmost Himalayan, in the state of Uttarakhand. Suj Tilla West Peak has an elevation of 6,373 m. It is nestled over the junction of Sankalp, Yankchar and Kalabaland glaciers. The geographical coordinates are 30 degree 19`48"N 80 degree 22`48"E.

Attractions of Suj Tilla West Peak
The peak harbours the picturesque village of Ralam. It also shelters a system of three glaciers including Kalabaland, Sankalp, and Yankchari Dhurra. The peak is surrounded by various charming peaks that are yet to be explored. It is considered as one of the admirable pieces of mountain architecture in the Indian Himalaya.

Expeditions on Suj Tilla West Peak
The first ascent on Suj Tilla West Peak was made by two British mountaineers, named Jim Lowther and Graham Little. This was an Indo-British joint expedition that was organized in the year 2001. Lt. Cdr. Satyabrata Dam led the Indian navy team in the expedition to the summit. The mountaineers who successfully climbed the peak include Lt. Amit Pande, Lt. K S Balaji, Sherpa Tsange, Divyesh Muni, Nima Thondup, A. Chaudhury, Puri, Sherpa Nima Dorje, Lt. Amit Rajora and Chera Rajkumar.

Connectivity of Suj Tilla West Peak
The south west face, covered with rock, snow and ice, is the most well known route to the summit of Suj Tilla West and most of the mountaineers adopt this route in their expedition. The Suj Tilla East Peak, which has an elevation of 6394 m, is located 200 m away from Suj Tilla West. This peak still has not been climbed even by experienced mountaineers due to various cornices on the ridge.
