Sui Mata Temple is located in Saho village, which is one of the prettiest villages of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Sui Mata Temple serves as a popular tourist destination for its imposing locations and temples dedicated to the Hindu Gods and Goddess.

History of Sui Mata Temple
Sui Mata Temple has the rich history. There was once heavy scarcity of water in the region. Disturbed by this issue, King Sahil Varman tried several ways to impress Gods and carried out religious affairs and offerings to the Gods. He felt anguished. He left his throne to full-fill the need but there was no water for years. Then, he consulted Brahmins and religious advisors who told him that the king would have to sacrifice his son or wife to bring water to this town. With a heavy heart, the king decided to sacrifice his son. But the queen could not see this happen and readily sacrificed herself instead. This queen and her close maidens were buried around this temple"s premises. Soon after, water began to flow and the village has never seen scarcity of water again.

Architecture of Sui Mata Temple
The architecture of Sui Mata Temple reveals on the building of Shah Madar Hill and it has three parts. The main temple of Sui Mata Temple has steps made by Rani Sarda, wife of Raja Jit Singh which leads to the nearby Sarota stream. The second temple of Sui Mata Temple is a channel and third is memorial of Queen Sui. Sui Mata Temple has been created as a temple and people make offerings here. Sui Mata Temple also has mane gargoyles or water spouts. Sui Mata Temple has likewise three different exits.

Fairs of Sui Mata Temple
A fair is held every year with great spirit and pomp in remembrance of the sacrifice made by Queen Sui and her maidens. This fair in Sui Mata Temple is conducted in Chaith month (April) till Baisakh (May). The women and young girls dress up and visit the temple with offerings to pay reverence to the great Queen Sui.
