Suhasini Das, also spelled as Suhashini Das, was one of the most prominent Indian freedom fighters who fought against the dominion of the British Empire in India and greatly contributed to the Indian freedom struggle. She was also a well known social worker. Suhasini Das was born in August 1915 in the village of Jagannathpur, located in the district of Sylhet. She was born in a business family to the parents Pyari Mohan Ray and Shobha Ray as the 3rd of 4 children. She was also the first of two daughters in the family. She studied at the first female primary school in the region, which was founded by Bipin Chowdhury and Hriday Chowdhury. Suhasini Das was married with Kumud Chandra Das when she was merely 16 years of age. But later he husband died and she became a widow at the age of 20 years, with her daughter Neelima.

Suhasini Das actively participated in the Non Cooperation movement and the Quit India movement, led by Mahatma Gandhi and supported by the Indian National Congress Party. She also took part in the rescue and relief operations that were conducted during the backwash of the Noakhali genocide. After the nation attained independence from the rule of the British Government of India, the country was divided into the Union of India and the Dominion of Pakistan, through the Partition of India. Suhasini Das went to Pakistani and took citizenship there. In her later life, Das settled in Bangladesh.
