Sudha Malhotra, Indian Playback Singer Sudha Malhotra is regarded as one of the topmost singers in India. She started her musical career at the tender age of five. Later the illustrious music director Ghulam Haider discovered her during a stage performance.

Then onwards Sudha Malhotra started performing in All India Radio, Lahore. At that time she was only eleven years old. Sudha had her training in Indian classical music under the expert guidance of Ustad Abdul Rehman Khan and Pandit Laxman Prasad Jaipurwale. She received her first break as a playback singer with the film `Aarzoo`, under the supervision of Anil Biswas. The song, `Mila Gaye Nain` proved to be an evergreen song. The Bollywood playback-singing ground experienced the promise of a competent voice.

Sudha Malhotra sang for the films like, Prem Rog (1982); Kinare Kinare (1963); Barsaat Ki Raat (1960); Ek Ke Baad Ek (1960); Kalpana (1960); Zalim Tera Jawab Nahin (1960); Dhool Ka Phool (1959); Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958); Parvarish (1958); Ab Dilli Dur Nahin (1957); Mr. X (1957); Mumtaz Mahal (1957); Naya Zamana (1957); Mirza Ghalib1954). Sudha has sung in many regional languages besides singing in Hindi films.

Apart from her playback singing, Sudha Malhotra has fulfilled many stage performances around the world. She has the credits of singing under the music direction of Roshan, S D Burman, Ghulam Mohammad, N. Datta, Madan Mohan and others. Acknowledging her talent she was awarded the `Kala Bhushan` award by Giani Zail Singh, the then President of India. She was also felicitated for `Dandi` March by Rajiv Gandhi. She excels in presenting ghazals too. She sang under the guidance of Jagjit Singh, Khayyam, and Jaidev and has produced many discs. She was awarded the Padma Shri Award by Government of India in 2013.
