SRM University is managed by the Valliammai Society which was set up by the famous educationist, Mr. Thiru. T. R. Pachamuthu. The University is working with an objective of providing high quality education in the field of Engineering, Medical science and Humanities. The SRM University believes that education is all about creating an environment of academic freedom, where bright minds meet, discover and learn. It has two campuses in Tamil Nadu, located at Kattankulatur and Ramapuram and it has one campus in Delhi as well.
SRM University has set up a high standard of teaching and research since its inauguration in the year 1985. The management brought all its educational institutions including the Engineering, Medical and Para-Medical colleges of the Valliammai Society under the ambit of SRM Deemed University by the year 2004. After that, the University Grant Commission (UGC) elevated the status of the deemed university to a full-fledged university in 2006, under the UGC Act 1956. The university introduced an upgraded syllabus and international teaching methods, once it was declared as a full-fledged university. The university is accredited by NAAC with a score of 5-star rating and it also won the Best ISTE Chapter Award in the Tamil Nadu-Pondicherry section.
SRM University offers several courses that are divided into three major faculties like Engineering and Technology, Medical and Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Science & Humanities. The courses are offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and various certificate and diploma courses are offered as well. The Kattankulathur campus of the university is located over a land of 200 acres and its Ramapuram Campus occupies 20 acres of land. The university`s College of Dentistry, College of Nursing, College of Physiotherapy, College of Occupational therapy and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology are located at the Ramapuram Campus. The Modinagar campus of SRM University in Delhi houses the Institute of Management and Technology.
