Sri Agra Teerth, Uttar PradeshShri Agra Teerth located in Chhattisgarh is a Jain pilgrimage centre. The teerth kshtra is situated in is in the Agra city, which is on the bank of Yamuna River. The temple is dedicated to Lord Parshvanatha, twenty-fourth jain Tirthankara.

History of Sri Agra Teerth
According to history Sri Agra Teerth dates back to the ancient times. The city was earlier ruled by Emperor Ashok from the year 206 to 166 before the Vikram Samvat Era. As per reference in many tirthamalas, Acharya Vijayhirsurishvarji has built many beautiful temples here during the reign of Emperor Akbar. The idol of Lord Parshvanatha was installed in the temple with a great celebration in the year 1639 of the Vikram Samvat Era. Many rich merchants of the court of Emperor Akbar built many Jain temples here. This extraordinary idol of Bhagawan Chaintamani Parshvanatha is made of Precious stone named yasav. The Emperor had honoured Acharya Hirvijaysuri with the designation `Jagatguru` and gifted him an invaluable library. Even today it can be seen in the upashraya. The Acharya made many valuable contributions towards the Jain religion.

The idol of Lord Parshvanatha is believed to possess miraculous powers. Devotees from far off places visit the temple to offer their prayers. It is believed that if prayed with all devotion the Lord fulfils the wishes of the pilgrims.

Temple of Sri Agra Teerth
The temple of Sri Agra Teerth houses the idol of Lord Parshvanatha. The Swetambara temple has been magnificently decorated with intricate artistic designs. The creative temple work boast about the skills of the craftsmen. The walls and pillars of the temple are adorned with specimens of ancient art. The idol of the Lord is white in colour and is seated in a padmasana posture. The idol has been beautifully carved from a single stone and looks very appealing. The smiling face of the Lord looks very calm and serene. Apart from this there are twelve Swetambara temples and some Digambara temples in the city of Agra. Outside the city, there is a large Dadwadi of Acharya Hirvijaysurishrarji. In the assembly hall in the chawk nearly, there is a miraculous black idol of Lord Shitalanath.

The Temple of Sri Agra Teerth organises many annual gatherings and functions. There are provisions for dharamshalas or rest houses for the pilgrims. These are well equipped with all modern facilities. Apart from this there are Upashrays, an Ayambilshala and a Jnanabhandar. The teertha is situated on beautiful natural surroundings on Shivnath River. The temple is enclosed by scenic beauty that mesmerises and fascinates the pilgrims. The calm and tranquil environment and the surrounding greenery make it a suitable place for religious activities. The kshetra is well connected to road, rail and air. Taxi services and bus services are easily available here. The nearest bus stop, railway station and airport are located at Agra.
