South West Delhi District, DelhiSouth West Delhi District is a revenue district of Delhi. This district is situated in the south west part of Delhi. South West Delhi District occupies an area of approximately 420 sq km inhabited by a population of 1749492, of which male population is 98,09, 94 and female population is 768498. There are 88 villages in South West Delhi District. South West Delhi District has the strategically important Delhi Cantonment which has a number of defence installations, artillery, armoury, etc. The district also has a large number of government offices in R.K. Puram.

Location of South West Delhi District
South West Delhi District is located in between latitude 28 degree 40 minutes and 28 degree 29 minutes and longitude between 76 degree 50 minutes and 77 degree 14 minutes. South West Delhi District is surrounded by West Delhi District on its north, Jhajjar District on its west, Gurgaon District on its south and South Delhi District on its east. It is bounded by the border of Haryana comprising Gurgaon, Bahadurgarh and Jhajjar and West, Central, New Delhi and South District of Delhi.

Geography of South West Delhi District
The distance from the sea gives South West District of Delhi an extreme type of continental climate. The summers here are very hot and winters very cold. The temperature range varies from 45 degrees Celsius in summers to 4 degrees Celsius in winters. The winters are marked by mist and fog in the mornings and often sun is seen in the afternoons. The cold wave from the Himalayan region makes winters very chilly. In summers the heat wave is immense and adequate precaution has to be taken before going out in the hot summer afternoons.

Administration of South West Delhi District
South West Delhi District is divided into three administrative subdivisions - Delhi Cantonment Sub-Division, Vasant Vihar Sub Division and Najafgarh Sub-division. There are three administrative Tehsils in the district namely Delhi Cantonment, Vasant Vihar and Najafgarh. South West Delhi District is of strategic importance as it houses theIndira Gandhi International Airport. Moreover R.K. Puram, the largest Government colony in Asia also comes under the district. Palam village in this district is the head of the Panchayat of 365 villages.

The best season to visit South West District of Delhi is during the spring seasons of February to April and August to November. The bloom season of February and March make South West District of Delhi really colourful. This time of the year brings greenery on the face of South West Delhi District.
