It was founded in the year 2004 by actor Sohail Khan, younger brother of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. As of 2014, the company has produced 9 Hindi films. "I - Proud to be an Indian" was the first film produced and distributed under the banner, featuring Sohail Khan himself, and the 2014 Salman Khan-starrer "Jai Ho" was the last film released by the production house.

Feature Films of Sohail Khan Productions
Sohail Khan had earlier written, directed and produced the 1998 Hindi romantic comedy "Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya", the 1999 comedy film "Hello Brother", both featuring Salman Khan in the lead and the 2002 musical romantic drama "Maine Dil Tujhko Diya". He established Sohail Khan Productions in 2004, and made "I - Proud to be an Indian" its first production venture. Released in February 2004, the action film, written and directed by Puneet Sira, proved unsuccessful at the box office. The company"s second produced film was "Lucky: No Time For Love", featuring Salman Khan and Sneha Ullal in the lead roles. The film was a box office hit. The production house"s next film was "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?", where Sohail Khan featured alongside Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Sushmita Sen. The romantic comedy directed by David Dhawan, was a major box office hit, emerging the fifth highest grossing film of the year. In 2006, Sohail produced and acted in Bollywood action drama "Fight Club - Members Only", which did not do well at the box office.

Released in July 2007, the film was declared a blockbuster by Box Office India and became one of the highest grossing films of Salman Khan, in addition to being Govinda`s comeback. Sohail Khan also produced the unsuccessful fantasy comedy film "God Tussi Great Ho", in 2008. Two films, "Kisaan" and "Main Aur Mrs Khanna", were produced in 2009, both being unprofitable.

Sohail Khan Productions" only produced venture in 2011 was "Ready", starring Salman Khan and Asin in the lead roles. Upon release, the movie became the second highest opening day grosser as well as the second highest weekend grossing Bollywood film after "Dabangg", produced by Arbaaz Khan Productions. It eventually became the second highest grossing Bollywood film of 2011 and the 11th highest grossing Bollywood film of all time, earning Rs.1.84 billion at the box office and becoming the production house"s highest grossing film. The company"s last produced film was the 2014 action drama "Jai Ho", again featuring Salman Khan in the lead, alongside Tabu, Daisy Shah, Aditya Pancholi and Danny Denzongpa. Receiving mixed reception from critics, grossing Rs. 183 crores at the box office.
