Sis Ram Ola is the current member of the 15th Lok Sabha of India. He represents Rajasthan Jhunjhunu constituency and is a member of the Indian National Congress. During 15th Lok Sabha elections campaign BJP was not able to find a suitable candidate in his opposition, hence his win was more or less clear from the beginning.
Political Career of Sis Ram Ola
Sis Ram Ola has held various important positions in his career. His career in brief: he was the Member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly during 1957-1990 and 1993-96. He served as the Cabinet Minister of the Government of Rajasthan for ten years and was in charge of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Forest and Environment, Public Health, Engineering Department, Irrigation, Transport, Co-operatives, Excise, Under-ground Water and Soldiers Welfare, Deptts. etc. during 980-1990. He was the Zila Pramukh in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan from 1960 to 1977. He was the member of the Pradesh Congress Committee (P.C.C.) of Rajasthan during 1960-95. He was theMember of the Executive Committee, P.C.C., Rajasthan. He was again appointed as the Chairman of the Kisan Cell, P.C.C. Later he was also the Treasurer of P.C.C. He was a member of the Pradesh Congress Election Committee, the Executive, Congress Legislative Party and All India Congress Committee (A.I.C.C.). Sis Ram Ola was Elected to 11th Lok Sabha (1996) and was the Union Minister of State, Chemicals and Fertilizers in 1996-97. Apart from he also held many other posts like:

* Union Cabinet Minister, Mines (27 Nov. 2004- 2009).
In 1952, as a social worker he started girl`s education in a remote area in rural Rajasthan with three girls. He named the school after Indira Gandhi "Indira Gandhi Balika Niketan Ardawata". His attempt was undoubtedly a result oriented one as it brought Jhunjhunu district, during 1952-96, to third place in literacy. He was conferred Padma Shree Award for social service in 1968.
