Silver Beach is the pristine beach in south east coast of India. This sea beach is the cynosure of the tourist who loves to enjoy peace and isolation.

Silver Beach is untouched by the din and bustle city life of Tamil Nadu. So the exploration will be adventurous one for wayfarer.

Silver Beach is the second longest beach on the Coromandel Coast and one of the longest beaches in Asia. The 57 km-long stretch of Silver Beach faces severe seafront erosion in rainy season and tidal times.

To the south of the Silver Beach, South Cuddalore Bay area appears as a separate island. The backwaters of Silver Beach are separating the main beach from the island-like structure is a safe place for water sports. Tourist can enjoy boat ride in the South Cuddalore Beach.

To the west of Silver Bay, South Cuddalore Bay flows into dense mangrove forests teeming with birds. On the coast there is century-old lighthouse. A few resorts have sprung up in the area to foster the tourism in that area.

Silver Beach in Cuddalore is also famous for the location of Fort St. David, which has a long colonial history as one of the three important forts built by the British East India Company in the first half of 18th Century. Periyar College of Arts and Science is situated near the Silver beach. The state government organises several beach festival in the months of spring and summer to foster tourism in that area.

From ancient times Cuddalore has been a seaport. Through the centuries, Cuddalore has been subjected to a number of overseas powers including the Netherlands, Portugal, France and at last the British. In the 1600s, the French East India Company and British East India Company came to Cuddalore for trade and business. In that time, they used the Silver beach. The traders of French East India Company established a settlement at Pondicherry and the British East India Company at Cuddalore near Silver Beach. From that time, Silver Beach in Cuddalore came into the limelight of urban settlement. After the Independence of India in 1947, Silver Beach became the tourist attraction site.
