Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy was an Indian freedom fighter who greatly contributed to the Indian freedom struggle to attain independence from the rule of the British Empire in India.

Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy, also spelt as Shyam Sundar Chakravarthi or Shyam Sundar Chakravarty, was one of the most well known Indian freedom fighters who greatly contributed to the Indian freedom struggle in order to attain independence from the rule of the British Empire in India. He was an Indian revolutionary and a noted journalist from Bengal in British India. Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy was born on 12 July 1869 in Bharenga, Pabna in Bengal Presidency, which is presently located in Bangladesh.

Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy, along with Annada Kaviraj and Abinash Chakravarty, belonged to the Pabna Group of Indian revolutionaries from Bengal. In the year 1905, Chakravarthy was appointed as the sub editor of the periodical Sandhya, which was a revolutionary journal. Chakravarthy became a part of Vande Mataram, the Bengali nationalist newspaper in 1906. He joined as an assistant to Sri Aurobindo Ghose, who served as the editor of the newspaper. Later Shyam Sundar became the editor of Bande Mataram newspaper. He was exiled to Burma in the year 1908.

Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy later became a supporter of the non violent means of Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress Party. He was appointed as an office bearer of the Swaraj Party. In a later period, Shyam Sundar founded the newspaper known as The Servant in 1920. He was the editor of the newspaper and utilised to propagate and support the Non cooperation movement. Apart from these, he also wrote 2 books titled My Mother`s Face and Through Solititude and Sorrow. Shyam Sundar Chakravarthy died on 7 September 1932.
