Her work also encompasses the South Indian movies. Shruti got acquainted with the film world at a very young age. She appeared in movies as a child artist and also sang in them. As an adult, she made her cinematic debut in 2009 through the movie Luck. Her career as a music director began with a Tamil movie Unnaipol Oruvan, produced by her father.

Early Life of Shruti Haasan
Shruti Haasan was born on 28th January 1986 in Chennai. She has a younger sister Akshara who represents the country nationally for Ballroom Latin dancing. Shruti did her schooling from Abacus Montessori School, Chennai. She pursued higher studies from St. Andrews College, Mumbai, in psychology. Her focus gradually shifted to music and she proceeded to the USA for learning music at the Musicians Institute in California.

Shruti Haasan started singing at the age of six in her father`s movie Thevar Magan. In Bollywood, she made her singing debut with the movie Chachi 420, where she sang a duet with her father. Her singing received critical appreciations. Shruti also performed with veteran singer K. J. Yesudas. She had also recorded a song for her Bollywood debut Luck which was followed by several more ventures as a singer.

Acting career of Shruti began with a cameo role n the Tamil-Hindi bilingual movie Hey Ram under the direction of Kamal Hassan. The movie portrayed a murder attempt of Mahatma Gandhi where Shurti was featured as the daughter of Vallabhbhai Patel. In 2008, the actress signed up for the Bollywood movie Luck in which she was starred with Imran Khan, his childhood friend. The movie released in 2009 and received quite poor reviews from the critics. Later she appeared in a promotional video of a horror flick Hisss for which she had also sung a song. 2011 marked her Telugu debut in a fantasy adventure movie Anaganaga O Dheerudu where she was starred alongside Siddharth. The movie received positive reviews and her performance was critically acclaimed. Her second Bollywood venture was Madhur Bhandarkar`s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. Although the movie performed well at the box office, her performance did not receive any good reviews. Her other Bollywood movies include D-Day and Ramayya Vasthavayya. Shruti Hassan next appeared in a number of South Indian movies which helped her to gain a footing in the Indian film industry. She has also worked as the brand ambassador of Philips LED Lights, Jewel One and Kalanjali.

Shruti Haasan began her work as music composer in 2009 with the Tamil movie Unnaipol Oruvan, the remake of a successful Hindi film, A Wednesday! Shruti also has a music band called `The Extramentals` where she is the vocalist.
