It is a lovely garden and entertainment space in the hill station. It lies about 2-5 kms from Darjeeling Railway Station, at a walkable distance from the Chowrasta. Owing to its charming beauty, it became a favourite place for Bollywood films in 1950s and 60s. Every year, travelers from varied distant places come here to cherish its beauty.

History of Shrubbery Nightingale Park
As per history, this park used to be the private courtyard of Sir Thomas Tartan`s Bungalow. During the early 1900s, this place was known as The Shrubbery. This park was quite popular amongst the British women resident in Darjeeling. The park has gone through several developments as it was completely destroyed in 1934 due to an earthquake.

Attractions of Shrubbery Nightingale Park
This park is situated in a picturesque location attracting tourists from all over the country. It lies between Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Chowrasta. The park is said to be in oval shape and is slightly at an elevated level. One needs to climb a few marble stairs at the entry. The park is adorned with pine and many other tall trees. Apart from this, the park offers a package of cultural programmes that are performed daily during the tourist season. This scenic park has beautiful water falls falling from the altitude of the Shiva temple. A musical fountain here is also a great attraction. Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council has developed Shrubbery Nightingale Park as one of the best cultural spots where one can enjoy different forms of Nepali dances in the evening.

Visiting Information of Shrubbery Nightingale Park
The park opens at 4.00 p.m. and closes at 8.00 p.m. The park has been extensively renovated, and comprises of a giant Statue of Lord Shiva, a temple, and provisions for live-interactive entertainment shows. The best time to visit the park is during the evenings. Entrance fee is charged and nominal charges for photography are also required from the visitor.
