Shreya Ghoshal SingerShreya Ghoshal is an Indian singer who has rendered her voice in many Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood movies. With a moonlit twinkle in her calm yet determined eyes, she has undertaken a journey to the heaven of creative world. Other than Hindi, she has also sung in languages like Bengali language, Tamil language, Telugu language, Kannada language, and Marathi language.

Early life of Shreya Ghoshal
Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12th March 1984 in Behrampore, West Bengal India, to Bengali parents Biswajit Ghoshal and Sharmistha Ghoshal. Her initiation of the musical odyssey started as she started learning the nuances of music from her mother who is a post-graduate literature student. She has started companioning her mother on harmonium from the tender age of four years. She was raised at Rawatbhata, a small town near Kota, Rajasthan as her father used to work at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre as a nuclear power plant engineer for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India. The life at Rawatbhata was simple, pristine unpolluted and far from the maddening crowd the cultural programmes and the social gatherings added to the making of Shreya.

Early Career of Shreya Ghoshal
Under the tutelage of Maheshchandra Sharma she was enrolled to receive training in Hindustani classical music. When she was a child she participated at the Sa Re Ga Ma contest on Zee TV. She won the contest. On illustrious music director Kalyanji`s advice, her parents moved to Mumbai to hone the musical skills of their daughter. For 18 long months she has been trained under Kalyanji. Under Mukta Bhide she received training in classical music. She again participated for the second time in Sa re ga ma pa, as an adult contestant director Sanjay Leela Bhansali spotted her and offered her to do playback in the movie `Devdas`.

Later Career of Shreya Ghoshal
Shreya Goshal debuted in the movie `Devdas` and sang 5 songs for the movie which became extremely popular. Then onwards, she has worked with celebrated music directors like M.M. Kreem, Anu Malik, A.R. Rahman, Ilayaraja, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Pritam. She has lend her voice for the movies, `Guru`; `Salaam E Ishq`; `Ta Ra Rum Pum`; `Heyy Baby`; `Bhool Bhulaiya`; `Jab We Met`; `Saawariya`; `Om Shanti Om` and many others. Shreya Ghoshal has also sung songs for Kannada movies. `Paris Pranaya` was the first film where she has lent her voice. She sang the songs, Rome Romancenalli and Krishna nee begane baaro. Some Telegu songs sung by her are, Jaaneman Jaaneman from the film `Aryan`; Nuvvena Naa Nuvvena and Vachhe Vachhe from the film `Anand`; Righto Lefto from the film `Anukokunda Oka Roju`; Andamlo Andhra Kosta from the movie `Laxmi Narasimha` and many others. "O Tota Pakhi Re" is the remake song sung by Shreya Ghosal.

Shreya Ghoshal has established herself as one of the leading singers in Bengali language, Hindi language, Kannada language, Malayalam language, Marathi language, Punjabi language, Tamil language and Telugu language. As recognition to the expertise of this outstanding talent many accolades have been conferred to Shreya Ghoshal.

Special recognition to Shreya Ghoshal
Governor of US State of Ohio, Ted Strickland declared by a proclamation that June 26, 2010 is "Shreya Ghoshal Day" in the state of Ohio in recognition of Shreya`s musical contribution.
