Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women`s University, Mumbai,The University has four campuses at, Santacruz-Juhu, Churchgate, Palghar and Pune. The University has several colleges in spread over Maharashtra, Assam, Goa and Gujarat. It was established by the great social reformer Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve and was named after his mother, Shreemati Nathibai. His main intention was to make the women, self- reliant, self- confident and self-sufficient. The University was started as a women`s college in the first half of 20th century.

Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women`s University has been recognised by the University Grant Commission. There are 38 postgraduate departments under 11 faculties. The University has also 11 undergraduate colleges.

Apart from that the University runs three secondary schools. In the field of research work the University also made its mark. To improve the standard of the academic programmes and research works the University is associated with British Council, Swedish International Development Agency, Government of India, Government of Maharashtra, Association of Commonwealth Universities and University Grants Commission. The University offers several scholarships to the deserving students. The University received five star statuses from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council as the first University of Maharashtra.
