The Shiv Temple located at Bagot, 25kms from Mahendragarh in the state of Haryana is a very important place of Hindu religion. As the name suggests, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
A big fair is held on the eve of Shiva Ratri in the month of Sawan. Lots of people from all over the country congregate to worship the idol of Lord Shiva. People take vows. They swear that if their desires would have been fulfilled then they will visit the temple and offer the water from the holy Ganges. So, when their desires get fulfilled, they go to Haridwar a week before the fair and bring Ganga water in two small pitchers known as `kawars`. Devotees travel on foot while returning from Haridwar to Bagot. They never put the pitchers on the earth because it is believed that on doing so the sacred water will become impure.
When they reach Bagot, they gush water over the stone idol of Lord Shiva and offer worship throughout the day. They also sing hymns and bhajans in honor of the Lord.
