Shiv Sunder Das was born on November 5 in the year 1977 at Bhubaneswar in Odisha. He happens to be a right-handed batsman of the Odisha cricket team. He had also played for the Indian cricket team during the beginning of the 21st century that marked a crucial point in his career for making a place in the test openers. He was also called up in the national squad of 2000, post-first-class runs he made in three domestic seasons. He also played his test debut against Bangladesh where he was the only player from the state to play for the international team.
International career of Shiv Sunder Das
He has represented India in near about twenty-three Test matches where he scored 1326 runs at an average rate of 38.1, hitting two centuries against Zimbabwe. He got the "Man of the Series" award during the Zimbabwe tour in the year 2001. He was the first test opener of India who was selected in the West Indies tour of 2002. Although, after failing to score 50 during the tour, he got dropped from Test XI in a subsequent tour for England. He has not played for India since then. Further, he had hit a 250 in the first-class match which was against Essex during the England tour of India in the year 2002. During the first-class cricket, he at present plays for Vidarbha cricket teams in domestic competitions.
Coaching career of Shiv Sunder Das
Previously in the year 2016, he was also training the boy as a coach in Under 16 and Under 19 camp in Shillong and Dimapur. He was appointed as the coach of the Barbados cricket team by the West Indies Cricket Association in the year 2017. Debashish Mohanty, former Indian cricketer was replaced by Das as the head of the Barbados cricket team. During August in 2018, he was appointed for the position of coach in the Manipur cricket team. However, he got ruled out as the National Selector because of the retirement date criteria as his retirement from every format was not completed for five years.
