Shikha Devi Uberoi is an Indian tennis player who achieved Number 1 position in Indian Tennis scenario, while she played tennis in national and international tournaments. She is the former Indian Tennis player of American origin who played many single tennis tournaments.

Shikha Devi Uberoi hailing from American Indian origin was born on 5th April in the year 1983, in Mumbai. Belonging from Mumbai, Maharashtra, Shikha Devi Uberoi is a former Indian No. 1. Shikha Devi Uberoi was born to father Mahesh, who was a table-tennis player for India and mother Madhu lived in Mumbai. Shikha Devi Uberoi earned her Bachelor`s degree from Princeton University in Anthropology and South Asian Studies. She graduated with high academic standing while winning Princeton"s prestigious Kit Harris Memorial Award for Leadership and Ethics. She was named the Zee Astitva Athlete of the Year 2007.

Shikha Devi Uberoi was one of the top-10 fastest servers in the world. She turned pro in August 2003. Though Shikha Devi Uberoi has not won any WTA Tour event till date, Shikha Devi Uberoi has three ITF Women`s Circuit singles titles to her name- one in Harrisonburg in 2003 and two in Fort Worth and Edmond in 2004. Her highest ranking is 122nd in the world in singles, which she achieved on 29th August 2005. At the 2004 United States Open Tennis Tournament, Shikha Devi Uberoi became the second ever Indian female player in the modern era to feature and win a round at a main draw Grand Slam Tournament, defeating Japan`s Saori Obata. The first was Nirupama Vaidyanathan at the 1998 Australian Open. In the year 2005, Shikha Devi Uberoi reached 2 WTA doubles finals partnering sister Neha, one in Kolkata and one in Guangzhou, China.
In the year 2006, Shikha Devi Uberoi represented Indian Tennis Team at the 2006 Asian Games where she defeated Linda Ahmad of Bahrain in Round 1, but retired in the second round to Zheng Jie of China. In 2007, Shikha Devi Uberoi was the finalist in Auckland, partnering Su-Wei Hsieh. She was also the India Fed Cup Team leader.
Later Career of Shikha Devi Uberoi
Shikha Devi Uberoi launched her media and lifestyle company, SDU Seva, Inc. As of 2013, Shikha Devi Uberoi is currently creating and producing international social issue television shows, and is a social entrepreneur. Shikha Devi Uberoi speaks internationally at various diplomatic conferences on female empowerment through sport. She has recently been invited to sit on the board of directors of the World Economic Forum"s "Global Shapers Initiative" for Bhopal. Shikha Devi Uberoi is also a news and sports presenter and coaches on all levels of tennis and fitness.

Shikha Devi Uberoi has one elder sister named Diya and three younger sisters named Neha, Nikita and Nimita. Her four sisters are also tennis players from Indian Tennis Team.
