History of Shamshabad
Shamshabad is very famous suburb in the outskirts of Hyderabad. Shamsabad was previously called Sedanti village which was later called as Shamsabad, named after a Paigah noble called Nawab Shams-ul-Umara Bahadur Abul Fateh Khan, Tegh Jung, Shams-ud-Daula, Shams-ul-Mulk and Shams-ul-Umrah ("The Sun among the Nobles").

Paigah family is a royal family in the senior aristocracy of Hyderabad State or the Princely State in Hyderabad. Under the rule of British East India Company, they tended to be richer than the average Indian Prince and each maintained his own court, his own extraordinary palaces, and his own three or four thousand-strong private army.

Bashir Bagh Palace belonged to Sir Asman Jah, a Paigah noble family and Prime Minister of Hyderabad (1887-1894). Sir Vicar-ul-Umra, the Paigah noble and the Prime Minister of Hyderabad state, in the year 1895 presented Falaknuma Palace, to the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan.

Mir Mahbub Ali Khan was the founder of the Paigah family, the title conferred by the Nizam Asaf Jah, the ruler of Hyderabad State on Paigah Nobles. Paigah family or Shams-Ool-Oomrah"s family or Shamshiya family was among the senior aristocracy nobility in Hyderabad Deccan and always held the first rank and second only to that of the Nizam of Hyderabad Deccan.

During the reign of Nizam II, Mir Nizam Ali Khan, who ruled this region from the year 1762 to 1803, the entire Shamsabad village was granted to Nawab Shams-ul-Umara Bahadur as a "Inam" permanently for rendering obvious service to the state, Shamsabad came to over the years to be called Shamshabad, as happened with other locality names, Shamsabad too got corrupted and over the years came to be called Shamshabad.

There is a railway station at Shamshabad by the name Umdanagar, which is part of the South Central Railway that is included in Indian Railways.
