Shahanur River is a tributary of Purna River. It flows in Amravati and Akola districts in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state of India. A dam has been built on this river to fulfill the needs of local people.

Origin of Shahanur River
The river originates in the Satpuda ranges on the border of Amravati district of Maharashtra and Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. It then flows in the south direction for almost 100 km before emptying into Purna in Akola district.

Dam on Shahanur River
Shahanoor Dam is constructed on this river for the purposes of irrigation and water supply. The dam is located approximately eight kilometer from nearest town Anjangaon. The gross storage capacity of the dam is 47,850.00 km3.
