Saurashtras are the inhabitants of Saurashtra or modern Surat, Gujarat. Saurashtra is roughly situated in the southern Gujarat including the peninsular region.

Saurashtras are referred in the epic Mahabharata. Sahadeva`s military campaign was held in the city Saurashtra.

In the epic Mahabharata, Sage Dhaumya describes the holy places in Saurashtra. In the Kurukshetra War the Saurashtras aided the Pandavas and fought against the Kauravas. The warriors of Saurashtra were well-armed and well-acquainted with the uses of weapons. The army was led by Kritavarman and preceded towards the south of the Kaurava army. Again it is mentioned that Arjuna`s post-war military campaign was also held in the country of the Saurashtras.
