Sarah-Jane Dias is a Mumbai-based Indian model and the winner of Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2007 title. She is also a former Channel [V] VJ and actress.
Early life of Sarah Jane Dias
Sarah-Jane`s was born to Eustace Dias, a marketing manager with Oilfields Supply Centre in Muscat, and her mother is Yolanda Dias. Dias was born to a Roman Catholic family in Muscat. Her father, Eustace Dias, is a marketing manager with Oilfields Supply Centre and her mother is named Yolanda. She also has a sister named Elena-Rose.
She did her schooling up to Class X at Indian School Wadi Kabir and the remaining two years at Indian School Muscat. She then attended university at Mumbai`s Mithibai College and St. Andrews College. In 1997, she won the Miss India Oman title at the age of 14.
Career of Sarah Jane Dias
It was in Mumbai that her career took off as Dias was discovered by Suresh Natrajan by accident when suddenly she walked onto his set and was immediately hired for the campaign he was shooting. At the age of 21, she won a talent hunt TV show, which gave her a chance to host a Channel V show. After that she had become the host of Get Gorgeous, a supermodel hunt TV show on the network. In 2006, Dias made her acting debut in Brides Wanted where she played the groom`s best friend who helps him in his bride hunt. The film is yet to be released. That same year she was featured in the music video for Australian rock group INXS`s "Never Let You Go" from their album Switch. The next year Dias participated in Femina Miss India 2007. She subsequently won the title of Femina Miss India World 2007 and represented the country at Miss World 2007 but did not place.
Dias scored her first major film role in the 2010 Tamil romantic comedy, Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai opposite Kollywood star Vishal Krishna. Then she was signed for the hindi movie Game, her Bollywood debut opposite Abhishek Bachchan. She appeared in a Telugu film named Panjaa with Tollywood star Pawan Kalyan which was released in 2011. She again appeared in the Hindi movie Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum opposite Ritesh Deshmukh in 2012. Later in 2014 she appeared in two Hindi movies O Teri and Happy New Year, in 2015 she appeared in Angry Indian Goddesses and recently she appeared in Zubaan and Viceroy"s House.
In the Miss India contest 2007 Sarah-Jane Dias was the contestant No. 18. In the final round, the winning question put to the five finalists was "If you had to convince a rural woman to participate in the Miss India contest, how would you do it?" The winning answer from Sarah-Jane Dias was "I would first remind her that she has every right to such privileges as a Miss India would have. If she wins she could go back to her village and the improvement she would bring about would make the achievement of the pageant irreplaceable."
