Located at a distance of nearly 14 km from the eastern part of Digha, Shankarpur has by now established itself as one of the most frequented tourist spot. This spectacular beach is present in the East Medinipur District of West Bengal and is based in the Digha-Contai Road. It is existent at a distance of about 185 kms away from the city of Kolkata.

Shankarpur is simply not a great beach with stumps of trees scattered all over the place but one can also see an endless stretch of sea, kissing the beach. Although the Shankarpur beach is more or less sandy yet at some places the beach is even muddy.

From Kolkata one can go to Shankarpur by bus. Shankarpur is close to Digha and the place can therefore be reached by taking any bus going to Digha. Tourists can also reach Shankarpur by train. The train starts from Kolkata (Howrah) on certain days of the week.
