In the Vishnu Purana it is mentioned that Sankara is one of the sons of Kasyapa and Danu. Sankara is a popular and powerful danava or demon. Sankara along with his brothers belonged to the family of Daityas. The brothers of Sankara were Dwimurddha, Ayomukha, Sankusiras, Kapila, Samvara, Ekachakra, Taraka, Swarbhanu, Vrishaparvan, Puloman and Viprachitti.
