Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Other Aspects of TheatreThe highest national award for performing arts in India, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award is presented to the talented and successful performers from different fields like Indian music, dance, or theatre. The performers from Indian Theatre are honoured with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Theatre and this category has three main divisions like acting, direction and playwriting. However, apart from these, the performers from other aspects of Theatre like Lighting, Scenic Design, Theatre Music, Theatre Make-Up, Costume Design, etc. are also honoured through this award. The famous Bengali Theatre personality, Tapas Sen was the first one to receive the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for other aspects of Theatre, in the year 1974. He won the award for Lighting. Since then, several other people from various aspects of Theatre have won the award.
