Sajnekhali is situated amidst the dense forest of Sunderban at the confluence of Gumdi and Matla rivers. It is an excellent tourist destination for the people in search of adventure and lush greenery. Sajnekhali houses a number of Royal Bengal Tigers and a vast variety of birds. It also houses many watch towers which gives a splendid view of Sunderban with various animals, like tigers, deer etc, wandering around the forest. A Nature Interpretation Centre is also located in Sajnekhali which exhibits a weird fencing. Besides this centre, a turtle farm, a crocodile farm and a pond which hosts several sharks are also located here. Various species of animals found in Sajnekhali forest include Fishing Cats, Flying Fox, Macaque, Wild Boar, Pangolin, Chital and many more.

Sajnekhali is perfect for exploring the wildlife in their natural environment. Daily activities of various animals can be well observed here. The Nature Interpretation Centre situated in Sajnekhali gives a pretty idea about Sunderbans and its inhabitants. The crocodile and turtle farm provides a beautiful experience of watching the activities of these species. Sharks are also an intriguing watch in Sajnekhali. Sajnekhali jetty is another blissful place to watch the beautiful Matla River and the boats that pass through.

Exotic birds are the most fascinating members of Sajnekhali. Some of the commonly found birds in this region are Spotted Billed Pelican, Fish Eagle, Caspian Tern, Green Backed Heron, Osprey Herring Gull, Open Billed Stork, Purple Heron, White Bellied Sea Eagle, Night Heron, Grey Heron, White Ibis, Egret, Common Kingfisher, Paradise Flycatcher etc. During winters, migratory birds, like Asian Dowitchers, also grace this beautiful forest.

Sajnekhali serves as a centre for reaching various nearby tourist sites. Bhagabatpur Crocodile breeding farm and Halliday Island, in Sunderbans can be visited by taking a ferry from Sajnekhali jetty. Halliday Island is renowned for Barking Deer. Boat ride to Gosaba, a small village, Canning subdivision is also enjoyable. Netidhopani is also located nearby which is famous for housing the relics of an ancient and mysterious temple. Kanak can also be visited from Sajnekhali which is another exquisite place for watching Olive Ridley Turtles.

Sajnekhali can be visited in any time of the year but the period between the month of September and March is considered as ideal. Monsoons in Sajnekhali render a spellbinding beauty to the place. For the accommodation of tourists, several tourist complexes have also been built in Sajnekhali.
