The Hindu mythology says , Sahya is one of the seven principal chains of mountains in ancient India. Sahya is situated in the northern portions of the Western Ghats, the mountains of the Konkan.
The mountain Mahendra and Malaya is also situated in the northern part along with Sahya. Mahendra is best known to the epic poets as a sacred place.
