Early Life of Rupa Ganguly
Rupa Ganguly was born on born 25 November 1966. Rupa Ganguly was born in Kalyani near Kolkata, West Bengal. She passed her Madhyamik Exam from Beltala Girls` High School. She later graduated from the Jogamaya Devi College, an affiliated undergraduate women`s college of the historic University of Calcutta, in Kolkata.

Career of Rupa Ganguly
Rupa Ganguly made her debut as a child actress in the Anil Kapoor starrer, Saaheb 1985. Her second role was in Malayalam film, Ithile Iniyum Varu in 1986. The movie had Mamoothy in the lead. She played her most important role in B.R. Chopra`s mythological TV series, Mahabharat (1988). She played the role of Draupadi which immediately got her attention. She has also played the lead to a role in Mrinal Sen`s, Ek Din Achanak (1989). Rupa Ganguly also acted in Rituparno Ghosh`s chartbuster Bengali flick `Antarmahal`. In this movie she played the first wife of a 19th century landlord played by Jackie Shroff. She recently premiered the film `Ek Mutho Phool` which will also be part of the Asian Film Festival this year in Pune.

Rupa Ganguly has also made her mark in the world of tellydom by her powerful performances in two popular dailies `Karam Apna Apna` and `Kasturi`. In the first soap she played the character of Sugna Tandon, the mother of a confident, focused and independent girl. In the later one she played the mother of the lead protagonist Kasturi who is very soft and calm by nature. Apart from these she has also acted in many other Bengali movies.

Personal Life of Rupa Ganguly
Rupa Ganguly was married to Dhruba Mukherjee, a Mechanical Engineer, since 1992. After 14 years of marriage the couple separated in 2007, and later formally divorced in January 2009. They have a son named Aakash.
