Royal Challengers Bangalore, or RCB as it is also called, is a cricket franchisee in the Indian Premier League, which is based in the Indian city of Bengaluru. Royal Challengers Bangalore or RCB lost the finals, by 8 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad which was played at their home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. It was a very high scoring match and a tough competition. Both teams reached the 200 run mark but they were 8 runs short of the coveted trophy. This is the third defeat of Royal Challengers Bangalore, or RCB after reaching the finals in IPL.

Indian Premier League is a domestic tournament held in India and organized by the apex cricketing body of the country - Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and backed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In the open auction conducted by BCCI, in 2008, the bid was won by Dr Vijay Mallya, who bought the Bangalore franchisee. It was the second highest bid, right after Mukesh Ambani`s Reliance Industries for the Mumbai franchisee (Mumbai Indians). The team owner, Vijay Mallya, was keen to link one of his top selling liquor brands, either Royal Challenge or McDowell`s with the team. The former was chosen, hence the name of the team - Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The colours of the jersey are golden yellow and red, the same as the flag of Indian state, Karnataka. The logo consists of the RC emblem with "Royal Challengers Bangalore" in standard format.
For the 2008 season the team song was Jeetenge Hum Shaan Se. The team anthem, Game for More was created for the 2009 season. The music was composed by Amit Trivedi and written by Anshu Sharma for RediffusionY and R, Bangalore. This continues to be the anthem for the team through the matches till date.
