Rohitaswa also known as Rohita is the son of Harishchandra. His name appears in the stronghold of Rotas, in Bihar, and in the Punjab. The Bhagavata has a tale of his being devoted to Varuna before his birth, by his father. Harishchandra made various pleas deferred offering his son as promised, was afflicted by dropsy. Rohita at last purchased Sunahsephas who was offered as a victim in his stead.
