Richa Chadda is a prominent and acclaimed name in the Indian film industry. Apart form being a powerful movie actress, she is also a thespian. She made her cinematic debut in Bollywood through the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! in which her acting received critical appreciations. Richa however rose to fame through her fiery character of Nagma in the movie Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 and Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2.
Early Life of Richa Chadda
Richa Chadda was born to a Hindu-Punjabi father and a mother belonged from Bihar in Amritsar. Her father is the owner of a management firm and her mother works as a professor at PGDAV College of Delhi University. She is also associated with Gandhi Smriti and is the author of two books. Richa was brought up in Delhi. She did her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, in the batch of 2002. Later she completed her graduation from St. Stephen`s College, Delhi, in History. She also did PG Diploma from Sophia College, Mumbai, in Social Communication Media.
Career of Richa Chadda
Richa Chadda started her career as a model but moved to theatres afterwards. She toured around India and Pakistan while performing in various plays. She also received training from the famous theatre director and teacher, Barry John. Richa stepped into Bollywood with the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! where she portrayed the character of Dolly. Her acting received substantial praises from the critics. Next she was featured in Anurag Kashyap`s movie Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 1 and Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2 where she played an important role Nagma Khatoon. She matured from the age of 16 to 60 years in the movie. The enthusiastic portrayal of the character in the movie earned her the name `Ms. Fire`. The movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in the year 2012. Richa`s performance once again was critically appreciated and she was labelled as an actress of tremendous potential. She also received the Filmfare Best Actress (Critics) Award in the year 2013, for her splendid performance in the movie. Richa also starred in Farhan Akhtar`s Excel Entertainment movie "Fukrey", where she appeared in the role of a female mafia don known as Bholi Punjaban. Her next venture was Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s movie Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. The movie was inspired from the Shakespearean novel Romeo and Juliet, set in the backdrop of rustic Gujarat. Richa portrayed the character of Raseela in the movie. Her other movies include Benny and Babloo and Shorts. Richa has also received nominations for various awards.
Richa Chadda has also been a part of several advertisements and endorsements namely Tata Sky, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate, Archies Gallery and Minute Maid.
