The serial called Reth was the unusual love story of Jia. She has always been misunderstood in love and has to sacrifice throughout her life to win back her love and her lost honor. The story deals with the life of this simple girl, whose husband Shekhar has left her for reasons best known to him. But still she has managed to put up with his family, and upheld their beliefs, trust and honor. She is just like another middle class `bahu` or daughter-in-law who is quiet accommodating, upholding family values above all till one incident turns everything in her life upside-down. Her sister in law becomes the target of some rapists. In order to save her sister-in-law she throws herself before the rapists. After this one incident her marital family appreciates her sacrifice but are unable to completely accept her back when she craves for that strong support. At this time she feels shattered. The whole soap traces the journey of the difficult but courageous battle of Jia against the stigma to emerge as strong and stand tall in the face of a damning society.

The serial Reth had a brilliant star cast and Deepa Parab played the lead role. The supporting cast included the likes of other popular small screen actors like Kamya Punjabi, Nupoor, Sachin Verma and Diwakar Pundir. Shyam Bhatta and Neelima Bajpai produced the serial under the banner of Shakuntalam Films. Neelima Bajpai directed the serial. Shyam Bhatta did the cinematography of the soap. It was aired between 19th February 2004 and March 13, 2006. Such kinds of serials based on such dauntless courage and iron determination are expected to be made instead of the same typical family dramas.
