Renuka was represented as a symbol of creativity and vibrancy. Renuka was the name of a minor goddess of wanton death and destruction. She is also known as Yellama.
As per legends she is the incarnation of Goddess Kali who symbolizes death of ego as well as the mother who is compassionate about her children. She is worshipped mostly in South India, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Some of her major temples are Yellamma Gudda temple in Saundatti, another temple in Maharashtra and few more are there.
